The Traditional Architecture Group has announced a formal tie with its American equivalent, the New York-based Institute of Classical Architecture and Art
The two organisations will develop mutual objectives for creating a more sustainable future for architecture and urban planning.
Part of the education initiative’s aims are to increase the public’s knowledge of architecture, urbanism and allied arts.
Peter Pennoyer, Institute of Classical Architecture and Art chair and Alireza Sagharchi, Traditional Architecture Group (TAG) chair, explained: ‘We are planning joint educational programs on both sides of the Atlantic including courses, symposia, drawing programs and debates.’
Sagharchi said he planned to host a ‘Philosopher’s Debate’ in August in London where traditional and modernist architects can discuss the future of architecture.
He added that TAG was keen to form alliances with other like-minded groups in order to continue effectively representing its members beyond UK borders and said it was important for the profession’s institutions to reflect the increasingly global architectural profession.
