The consortium behind the Portsmouth millennium tower has been dumped for failing to sign contracts to build and run the design. Portsmouth council dropped the Portsmouth Spinnaker Tower team from the hgp Architects' design after 13 months of delays. Mike Broomfield, the council's millennium project co-ordinator said: 'We had no option ... there were differences on funding and legal papers. We will find an operator from the open market.'
