The winner of the architects' football league... an engineer

Pity the profession - why is it that architects can’t even win their own football league?

The AJ’s sportsdesk has received breaking news that engineer-to-the-stars AKTII has been crowned the champions of the inaugural Architects’ Championship Football League 2014 in London.

The company’s hot shots, who climbed to the top of the table above the likes of Farrells, Hogarth Architects and Fletcher Priest, posted an impressive +57 goal difference over the 10 game season.

The Golden Boot was handed to Charles Ashton, who netted himself 13 goals during the season and a special mention must go to Italian playmaker (and civil engineering whizz) Fabrizio Fortunato for his headed lobb over a goalkeeper [in a 5-a-side net] in one game.

Sadly the wooden spoon went to Darling Associates whose defence shipped in more than 60 goals in the first seven games alone.

Being architects, they probably looked good though…
