The web is the best hope for the future of CPD

Alastair Blyth's excellent article (aj 17.2.00) on continuing professional development (cpd) raises three key points:

cpd is as relevant to all construction professionals as it is to architects;

every professional has his or her own cpd agenda; and

how cpd might be delivered in the future.

In our experience as the uk's only independent industry-wide provider of certified cpd, the demand for high-quality educational and further learning material comes from all sectors.

As cpd is a personal commitment and as each professional can make their own decision as to the scope of their cpd programme, institutes must work with a wide range of organisations to meet the demand.

The Construction cpd Certification Service is developing a range of online access points for cpd via Internet and intranet services. The provision of cpd via the web has to be the way forward in creating opportunities to obtain further learning at home or work - this is especially the case for those unable to attend branch meetings and/or attend seminars and conferences.
