The Lawns

  • Comment

The Lawns by Eldridge Smerin won a RIBA award last week and was nominated for the AJ's new First Building Award later this year. The north London scheme is a £1.1 million reworking of a Leonard Manasseh 1950s house, doubling its size with double-height glazed extensions and glazed studio box replacing the pitched roof. The RIBA made 53 awards, though there were notable omissions - the Tate Modern, because the architects Herzog and de Meuron are not RIBA members, and the Great Court at the British Museum, because Foster and Partners plans to enter it next year.
