The Hunt House, Sheffield by Halliday Clark Architects

  • Comment

[SMALL PROJECTS 2011 - BEST OF THE REST] Integration of both ‘the terrace house’ and ‘modern living’

The house aims to utilise the established street geometry for the composition of its front facade, replicating the width and scale of the existing houses, yet maintaining a modern approach to allow its client maximum future flexibility.

The internal layout allows light to filter through the dwelling at key points through carefully positioned floor to ceiling glazing and roof lights creating areas of interest within the home environment.

The dwelling, constructed from a Structural Insulated Panel System, consists of a lower ground floor home office with utility, WC and separate entrance, an open plan first floor leading out to a decked terrace area. The upper floor contains the main bedroom with dual balconies, bathroom, and central glazed roof light leading up to the roof terrace providing panoramic views across Sheffield.
