The Heritage Lottery Fund

  • Comment

The Heritage Lottery Fund has given a £4 million grant to the British Library of Political and Economic Science for a complete redesign of the building to designs by Foster and Partners. The Lionel Robbins building in Portugal Street, Westminster, originally a book store, forms part of the London School of Economics. The redevelopment will improve storage conditions and increase access to the collections.

The HLF awards, with a total value of £51 million, include more than £13 million of support for the restoration of nine parks and gardens. There is also a grant of £3.9 million for Coalbrookdale in Telford, Shropshire, site of the Industrial Revolution.
