the directors ALLAN BERNAU

  • Comment

ALLAN BERNAU has run the Sheffield office for the last five years since becoming a director in 1987, nine years after joining the firm. He prefers the big-span structures like Inmos, Hatfield Gallerias, and the MacAlpine Stadium, enjoying 'any job where the structural engineers get showing', and always would 'rather have neatly turned-out joints than put a false ceiling across'. He is looking forward to the National Sports Centre in Sheffield, with 11 sports over two sites; an hq building with Ken Yeang and his glass structures; a 'necklace on water' sculpture in the River Wear with Alison Wilding; and a glass bridge with Fillipo Broggini.
