The architect has managed to produce a large number of layout options using an L-shaped floor plan that can be infilled to create a rectangle and/or combined with others. The floor is clear span within the 'L'. There is one post at the inside corner of the 'L', the meeting point of the principal glulam beams that support the I-beam floors.
As with all the schemes, there are rooms in the roof. Some of the design teams initially contemplated creating the roof shell so that future occupation was possible. But the speculative builders attached to the project group said there was no point in stopping there; having gone that far the job should be completed. The consequence is a larger house, further upmarket.
The architect also proposed obtaining advanced planning permission for the house-extension possibilities.
