Never mind the Gold Medal or the Pritzker. Julyan Wickham has received the ultimate accolade - a special prize in Time Out's Eating & Drinking Awards 1999. In addition to its usual listings of best newcomer, best bargain meal etc, the London listings magazine has created a special category for the man who 'clearly set the trend for canteen-style minimalism'. The magazine effervesces: 'Look at any modern London restaurant, then look at Julyan Wickham's designs, and see if you can trace the inspiration.'
