The old saying that family heirlooms have to start somewhere seems to be the idea behind a new business venture from two entrepreneurs called, simply, Rebecca and Mike.

Forget 'pet rocks' from the 1970s, Rebecca and Mike recognise the media fad for archaeology and say, 'currently, archaeologists are finding Roman mosaic floors, IronAge settlements, and many other things from our past. In a few thousand or million years from now, what archaeologists will be uncovering will be things like tarmac roads. So we are selling real pieces of tarmac road, a historical commodity and you can have it now. Why wait?' Why indeed? Retailing at between £40 and £60 - depending on size - the tarmac complete with painted lines is available from Selfridges and Artomatic in London. Hurry now, while stocks last.
