Sheppard Robson has won from planners a resolution to give the go-ahead to its revised masterplan for the University of Surrey at Roehampton. One of only four 'collegiate' universities with Oxford, Cambridge and Durham, Surrey called for a 'robust and comprehensive estates development programme to see it prosper in the new century'. Sheppard Robson's new masterplan includes demolition and redevelopment of areas on the 20ha campus. A large number of proposed new buildings include student residential and teaching accommodation, with a student centre, performing arts and conference centre, dance centre, sports centre and an expanded learning resource centre. The practice is working with landscape consultant Derek Lovejoy Partners and hopes to win full planning consent later this year.
