  • Comment

Studio E Architects has been named as the winner in the contest to design a new academy and leisure centre in North Kensington

The victorious team led by Hammersmith-based Studio-E also includes leisure specialists LA Architects, engineers Max Fordham and landscape architects, Curtin and Churchman. The practice saw off competition finalists Aedas, dRMM, AStudio and Hawkins\Brown.

Studio-E has already designed several school schemes for the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, including the classroom of the future at St Francis of Assisi primary school (2003) and the sports and IT extension to St Charles Catholic Sixth Form College (2010).

The design team will now develop a number of design options for the new academy and leisure centre for review by local residents this autumn and the Council’s Cabinet in December. Provided approval is received the planning application is set to be submitted in April 2012. Work is expected to begin next summer.
