Lord Foster of Thames Bank presented the rias student awards at the rias convention last week. The John McLaren Travelling Fellowship went to Graham Mitchell Ross of Wren Rutherford; the RIAS award for Measured Drawing went to Kenneth Paul McGuire from the Mackintosh School (commendation - Paul McWilliams); but no award was made for the Sir Robert Lorimer Memorial award for the best sketch books. The other main awards went to the Mackintosh School's Udo Heinrich in the Sir John Burnet Memorial award (commendation, David Findlay, mention Katherine Cullen, both from the Mackintosh School) and the Sir Rowan Anderson Silver Medal went to Shane Birney of Duncan of Jordanstone. Commendations were awarded to Graeme Sivell of Duncan of Jordanstone and Felicity Bristow from Heriot Watt. The Thomas Ross Award was not made.
