Studded bars stand in for pilecaps

  • Comment
PRODUCT FOCUS Modular buildings and structures HALFEN

Originally designed as punchingshear reinforcement for column heads, Halfen's HDB system is now providing major time and cost savings in ground slab construction, linking piles to floor slabs without the need for pilecaps.

Placed in a radial pattern around the pile and within the reinforcing cage, the end-studded highstrength reinforcing steel bars counter the shear stress at the head of the pile, enabling the slab to rest directly on the pile. HDB double-headed studs are made in a range of lengths in 10mm increments, so that whatever the slab thickness, the studs can line through with the top and bottom steel.
