Stilted explanation

Portmeirion-on-Thames is the rather unkind soubriquet which has been applied to the Ralph Erskine/Hunt Thompson Millennium Village, close to the Dome on the Greenwich Peninsula.

In an ambitious Cannes presentation by the winning consortium, hosted by English Partnerships, the toughest question went to Hunt Thompson's Ben Derbyshire. 'Why is it built on piloti?' To which came the reply: 'Because it is built on a swamp.'
