Stephen Lawrence

  • Comment

Murdered black teenager and aspiring architect Stephen Lawrence is to be remembered with a £9 million college in Deptford, south London, designed by Arthur Timothy Associates. The Stephen Lawrence Technocentre, unveiled last week, will prepare disadvantaged students for university courses in architecture and the built environment by training them in skills such as CAD and organising work experience. The centre will also include live/work spaces for start-up practices and will become the headquarters for the Stephen Lawrence Memorial Trust. The development has been earmarked for Lottery funding but still needs to raise £4. 5 million.
