Arts minister Alan Howarth has awarded Grade II* listed status to Sir Denys Lasdun's 1976 Institute of Education at University College London. The listing this week was just one of eight awarded to post-war buildings. Bill Howell's 1974 arts centre and music school at Christ's Hospital School in Horsham was also listed Grade II*.

Grade II recipients were: Brett and Pollen's 1960 Pall Mall Court in Manchester; Jim CadburyBrown's 1964 3 Church Walk in Aldeburgh; Blackwell's Music Shop in Oxford by Metzstein and Macmillan; the 1959 St Crispin with Christchurch Church in Bermondsey by Thomas F Ford;

Carradale House in Tower Hamlets, by Erno Goldfinger; and 10 Blackheath Park in Greenwich by Patrick Gwynne.
