Stallan-Brand replaces RMJM on Scottish schools framework

Contractor Kier has replaced RMJM on its South Lanarkshire schools projects after the practice’s three UK divisions went into receivership last month

Kier’s contract to the troubled architectural giant was automatically terminated when receivers were brought to sell off RMJM Ltd, RMJM London Ltd and RMJM Scotland Ltd. The contractor has now turned to emerging Glasgow-based stars Stallan-Brand to take over the schemes.

Though RMJM has re-emerged as a new company - RMJM European Division which bought the assets from the trio of companies - Kier has decided not to re-engage the outfit on the huge programme of primary work for South Lanarkshire Council.

The regional managing director for Kier’s operations in Scotland, Brian McQuade, has confirmed the practice was no longer working with RMJM on the South Lanarkshire Schools framework contract.

He said: ‘Kier’s contract with RMJM was automatically terminated when RMJM went into receivership and we have since put an interim arrangement in place with an alternative practice. We continue to work closely with our client, South Lanarkshire Council, on all matters concerning the South Lanarkshire Schools framework.’

Paul Stallan, of RMJM offshoot Stallan-Brand, confirmed it had taken over the role: ‘Stallan-Brand is supporting Kier presently on the South Lanarkshire Schools projects.

‘These are projects which we have had an involvement with overseeing previously prior to us leaving RMJM. Our priority is to provide Kier with every assistance to ensure the projects continue being delivered on time and to a quality that South Lanarkshire Council have come to expect. It is very exciting and we are working very very hard’.
