St Vincent’s Private Hospital

As part of a design and build project at one of Dublin’s premier private teaching hospitals, 15,000 sqm of Ecophon’s Hygiene Meditec acoustic ceiling tiles have been installed throughout the building.

Working with architects Scott Talon Walker and main contractor John Paul Construction, this high end system was specified due to its durability and class A sound absorption. As a surface that can withstand regular cleaning, it was the ideal solution for this hospital environment.

Alan Crampton explains: ‘The Meditec tiles were installed by Platt and Reilly Drywall throughout the building, including the rooms themselves and the scanning suites. In any hospital environment, surfaces are going to be subject to regular, vigorous cleaning which means the tiles had to be able to withstand this. It was also essential that we used a specialist ceiling installer which had expertise in this sector.’

Chris Reilly, partner at Platt and Reilly Drywall, said: ‘Although this was a large scale project the installation was pretty straightforward, taking 20 weeks in total. Our previous work in the sector ensured the project ran smoothly and was completed on time.’

Made from recyclable glass wool, Ecophon’s Hygiene ceilings provide maximum sound absorption. The Hygiene system can be dusted; vacuum cleaned, weekly wet washed with detergents and conforms to specific legislation in hospital environments.
