Local politicians are discussing moving RMJM’s controversial 455m-tall Gazprom skyscraper in St Petersburg, Russia to another site in the city
St Petersburg governor Valentina Matviyenko has said the location of Gazprom Neft’s skyscraper (pictured) may be moved, according to the Kommersant.
It comes after he met with opposition groups, who are against the building being erected near the city centre.
RMJM’s plans for the ‘Okhta Center’, claimed to be Europe’s tallest tower, have faced stiff opposition from conservationists.
UNESCO opposed the project and threatened to withdraw the city’s World Heritage status if it proceeded.
In June a local court rejected a bid to have the contentious skyscraper sent back to the drawing board.
