C A Cornish & Associates has been appointed architect by the Kier Group on a £3.3 million design and build contract for new and refurbished offices at St John's Square, London. The construction of 4800m 2 of office accommodation will be complete in February 2001.

WAM - Walker and Martin Architecture/Interior Design has won a job to design a 2000m

2 call centre in Manchester for Avis-Europe. The scheme features a 'break-out' cafe (above) and is based on the idea of journeys and destinations. The reservations facility will be completed by April. It features long arms with information boards and monitors (nicknamed 'Mr Tickle'), inflatable teamtalk areas ('Mr Bouncy') and tensile fabric structures dispensing food and drink ('Mr Sandwich').
