Squire and Partners bags Chelsea Creek job

[First look] Squire and Partners has been appointed to design a three hectare residential development in Fulham, west London

The project for developer St George Central London will transform a brown field site close to the decommissioned Thames-side Lots Road power station.

A series of new canals will be created on the site which features an existing lock.

Michael Squire of Squire and Partners explained: ‘The renovation of the lock at the top of Chelsea Creek presents a unique opportunity to create a system of canals, providing a navigable basin connected to the Thames, and reinventing the history of water-borne access to this part of South Fulham.

‘These canals will provide the animation and setting for the new residential development.’

The scheme’s ‘Amsterdam-style’ residential buildings will be clad in brick and arranged in linear blocks to allow ‘dual aspect’ views of the river.
