Progress with the planned £240 million international sports village at Cardiff Bay (aj 23.4.98) is being held up by Cardiff Bay Development Corporation, although corporation officials say that the proposal is supported in principle. cbdc, one of the owners of the proposed site, has lodged a series of information requests to which it wants detailed answers before considering the project further. Cardiff county council and the Philips-led consortium behind the village scheme are jointly funding a £200,000 independent study of the proposals, and a public/private partnership to run the complex is to be set up between the council and Philips. eu funding will also be sought.
