Spanning the sea

One of Europe's biggest free-span glass roofs, to the National Maritime Museum's Neptune Court, opens next week. bdp and Rick Mather Architects designed a 52m x 44m cover of 140 tonnes. It cost £20 million, with £11.8 from the Heritage Lottery. The Queen's official opening is in May.
