For Sir Jack Zunz, former chairman of Ove Arup and Partners, the crowning moment of the 1970s was 1973's long-delayed completion of the Sydney Opera House, on which he had worked since its inception in 1958. Dogged by problems it was nevertheless, Zunz believes, a great building because: 'Those parts of our built environment which lift the spirit are rare.'
