Softroom completes Wahaca restaurant on London’s Southbank

  • Comment

[First look] Softroom has taken the wraps off this 130-seat Wahaca restaurant built from multi-coloured shipping containers on London’s Southbank

The two-storey temporary structure – known as the Wahaca Southbank Experiment – is located on a raised terrace next to the 1968 Queen Elizabeth Hall.

One of the upper floor containers is cantilevered to enhance views and create a canopy below. A glazed link connects the two ground floor containers and houses a staircase.

Artist Tristan Manco has curated a series of street art murals for the restaurant’s timber deck seating area.

The structure will remain on the Southbank for at least the next 18 months.
