Few people realise just how dangerous it is to operate as an architectural journalist. My erstwhile colleague Peter Davey, editor of the ar, was arrested last week in Abu Dhabi fish market, where he was escorting former environment supremo John Gummer on a photographic walkabout. Happily he was released without charge. This is not the first time this sort of thing has happened. Having photographed a particularly fine Arts & Crafts house - which turned out to be the official lodgings for security-sensitive circuit judges - Davey once spent an entire Boxing Day afternoon in Leeds nick. But he still became an obe this year - an example to us all.
