Smoke without fire

Congratulations to man-about-Glasgow Neil Baxter, who has bought an apartment in the block by Ushida Findlay in the Homes for the Future scheme which forms part of City of Architecture Year. Apparently a little niggle had to be ironed out first. 'Where's the fireplace,' Baxter asked Kathryn Findlay as she showed him around. 'Do you mean the central heating?' she asked, unsurprisingly mystified by such a question, given that she is best known for her soft and hairy redefinitions of domesticity for the Tokyo housing market.

'No,' elaborated Baxter, 'where's the focus of the room?' Happily it's all ended up well, with Baxter commissioning the firm to do the interior fit-out as well.
