Sitting comfortably?

  • Comment

Furniture designer Mathias Bengtsson, who graduated from the Royal College of Art in 1999, has had one of the pieces from his final-year show snapped up by new furniture company Keen.

'Slice' is a computer-generated chair. A model was sliced up on the computer and each slice then became a sheet, formed of plywood and aluminium. The result is a kind of hard-edged organic aesthetic, definitely an ornament to the right kind of room. As for sitting on . . . Bengtsson is developing a softer, lighter version for Keen.
