Teams of architects from Richard Rogers Partnership, Zaha Hadid, and Gensler have made it onto a shortlist of five practices fighting to win a massive masterplan competition in Singapore. The shortlisted teams, completed by Ellerbe Becket and Toyo Ito with local practice RSP, will battle to win the 15-year job to masterplan the 180ha Vista region of the city. The plan will incorporate housing, livework units and accommodation for electronics and e-business firms. RIBA president Marco Goldschmied, who led the RRP team and has been a visiting professor at Singapore University, said the project would be a model for sustainable development and that the key difference from other masterplan competitions was that much of the land was available immediately.
