The new practice will trade as Sidell Gibson and operate independently of HLM out of new offices in central London.
HLM, ranked 32 in this year’s AJ100, helped register the name of Sidell Gibson - formerly a limited liability partnership - at Companies House last month (AJ 30.08.2013) , promising to safeguard Sidell Gibson’s ‘well-respected’ brand name.
Ron Sidell said: ‘We’re delighted that HLM has assisted us in our financial restructuring, securing the Sidell Gibson brand. I’ve been touched by the support of our clients and the industry.
‘HLM has the resources and financial strength that will enable us to carry on our work serving existing and new clients, while also affording us wider opportunities for design collaboration.”
HLM chair Chris Liddle said: ‘We are excited about the opportunity of supporting the work and heritage of Sidell Gibson into the future. Having worked closely with Ron throughout the process, this deal allows Sidell Gibson to retain its strong identity and position in the industry, and we are now in discussion with a number of clients about taking projects forward.’
Sidell Gibson clients include Capital and Counties and City and Provincial Properties.
Fellow AJ100 practice Stride Treglown has meanwhile opened a new office in Southampton following the purchase of locally-based TS Design.
Under the move TS Design co-founder David Steele will join Stride Treglown as a director and shareholder and continue to lead his team from its existing premises.
Stride Treglown chair David Hunter said: ‘The incorporation of TS Design Group into Stride Treglown represents a great step forward for us.
‘Right from the start of our negotiations with David Steele, we recognised that there was a good cultural fit in the way our businesses operate. This fundamentally important starting point gives us real confidence for future success.
‘The combined practice will continue to provide an outstanding, responsive design service along the south coast with the additional back-up of our national capability. We’re looking forward to the challenges and opportunities this represents.’
