Waugh Thistleton’s Boxpark - the pop-up marketplace in Shoreditch made from shipping containers - has reopened following this morning’s fire
Four fire engines and 21 firefighters were called out to the blaze at the four-year-old shopping centre opposite the Tea Building in Bethnal Green Road, east London.
It is understood part of the Bukowski BBQ on the first floor was damaged by the fire which started just before 10.15am today (9 September).
According to a spokesperson for the London Fire Brigade, officers brought the fire under control by 11am and the cause is now under investigation.
Agee Johnston, head of retail at Boxpark, confirmed that there had been a ‘small fire’ but that all the downstairs units were now open.
