Sheppard Robson scoops planning for 20-storey city offices

Sheppard Robson has landed planning permission for this 25,000m² office scheme in the City of London

Targeting Excellent BREEAM rating, the scheme for developer Helical Bar replaces a disused 60s offices building on the site.

The building features two below-ground basement floors with seventeen upper storeys and a 280m² retail/café space.

The facade features a ‘unitised, interactive’ double skin and anodised aluminium vertical fins of varying colour which add ‘vertical emphasis’ according to the practice.

A statement from the studio explained: ‘In the medieval period the site was occupied by the Augustinian Holy Trinity Priory, the earliest post-conquest monastery within City Walls and the first religious house to be dissolved under Henry VIII.

‘The plan form of the new One Mitre Square development is based on that of the Priory, mapped onto the proposed site and abstracted to form a series of staggered extrusions, in which the form is broken into a cluster of smaller towers, each with its own subtly different identity.’
