Sheppard Robson is to establish a new office in Manchester - only its second outside London - on the back of being appointed to design a new bioscience building for the University of Manchester and a clutch of other projects.
The practice broke the news at last week's MIPIM conference in Cannes, where it was also parading a modern new image, letterhead and marketing material designed for the practice by ATTIK.The 230-staff practice has been based at Camden Town in London throughout its 60 year history and chairman Richard Young described the new venture as 'a significant step'.
'Manchester is a buoyant and dynamic national and international cultural and commercial centre, offering tremendous opportunities for exciting new projects, ' he said.
The practice also has projects at the Geoffrey Manton building for Manchester Metropolitan University, the new International Convention Centre (on site and being carried out with Stephenson Bell) and a proposed office development for Royal London Asset Management at 58 Mosely Street, which is currently in for planning. The practice is also aiming to target more planning and urban design work.
