Sheffield One, one of the government's three pilot urban regeneration companies, has unveiled Koetter Kim Associates' masterplan for the city centre. The £500 million scheme features a major new Winter Garden glasshouse, a new retail quarter, an 'e-campus' business park development, the revamp of Midland station and an office development at Castle Gate. Architects will be picked by the developers appointed to each part of the scheme, but the regeneration company will pick an architect itself for a new public space around the station. A shortlist of four teams, featuring David Lyons Architecture, Bond Bryan Architects, Michael Hyde & Associates and Axis Architecture has already been drawn up for a mixed-use scheme on Leopold Street.
