Shake-up for RIBA?

  • Comment

Senior members of the RIBAmet this week to consider plans for a major shake-up of the Institute's hierarchy, making it more responsive and introducing more expertise into its decision making.

Council members considered proposals to halve the size of Council, abolish membershipwide elections for the president and recruit industry leaders, politicians and other nonarchitects onto the powerful policy management board. The AJ understands that a plan to give more power to the regions by ensuring an allotted number of representatives from outside London on Council, was also on the agenda. Nothing could be decided because it was not a full Council meeting, however.
