SEPTEMBER 11 LESSONS

News

A task force of industry experts has met to discuss the emergency performance of tall buildings following the destruction of the World Trade Center. The group concluded that no building could withstand the kind of attacks on 11 September. However, it recommended measures to improve safety, including the updating of standards relating to exit strategies, improved monitoring and control of buildings and better education of safety procedures. The discussions came as the FBI warned architects to be on guard for suspicious requests for building plans.
