Of the six new RIBA International Fellows attending the awards, Bernard Tschumi, Rafael Viñoly, Massimiliano Fuksas and Wolf Prix all turned up in person. Shigeru Ban sent his friend and collaborator Philip Gumuchdjian to pick up his honour. Peter Eisenman, who was unable to attend because he was at the New York symposium in honour of Philip Johnson, brilliantly appointed fellow New York symposium delegate Charles Jencks (don't these people talk to each other? ) to collect the honour on his behalf, leaving Jack Pringle to accept the fellowship (on behalf of Jencks on behalf of Eisenman) from - himself.
