Short description of the contract or purchase(s):
Architectural Services relating to detailed design development and contract administration for Seafront Improvement Work in Bexhill on Sea East Sussex. It is anticipated that the architect will act as lead consultant responsible for the appointment of a design team of sub-consultants as required. Expressions of interest from individual disciplines will not be considered. The fee income will be based upon a construction contract value in the region of GBP 5 000 000.
The construction work will be split into two phases, phase 1 construction contract value circa GBP 3 000 000 and phase 2 construction contract value circa GBP 2 000 000. The Next Wave Bexhill on Sea Improvement works project has recently been awarded GBP 1 000 000 in grant funding from CABE under the Sea Change programme for Cultural Regeneration in Seaside Resorts. The project involves developing the design concepts in an existing Strategic Design Framework for a core area of the seafront in Bexhill, in the immediate vicinity of the recently restored modernist icon that is the Grade I listed De La Warr Pavilion. Phase 1 includes public realm works and associated relocation of the rowing club, creation of shared space, landscaping and associated lighting, whilst Phase 2 includes the refurbishment and redevelopment of a Grade II listed seafront Colonnade.

Development to be split into two stages. First stage total value circa GBP 3 000 000 and second stage total value circa GBP 2 000 000. Detailed design required for both stages but second stage may not proceed to construction.
