Architects in Scotland have called for a shake-up in the country's competition system and have called for the industry to emulate the Finnish system, which they claim produces better architecture. Comprehensive Design director Mark Allan said: 'As a practice we have long admired the high standards achieved in Finnish architecture.Correctly run competitions with clarity of purpose can be a positive force in improving the quality of the built environment.' The issue will be discussed at a one day symposium at Edinburgh University Conference and Training Centre. Contact tel 0131 455 2808 for details.
