Work has started on the construction of a £1.5 million, three-storey innovation centre at Keele University's Staffordshire science park. Designed by architect and town planner Hulme Upright, the 3,400m 2centre forms the second phase of a number of new buildings on the campus. It is due for completion in October.
Work on Michael Drury Architects' new visitor centre at Salisbury Cathedral has finished. Positioned between the cloisters and the south side of the cathedral, the new restaurant and gift shop replace previous dilapidated facilities. The centre is a free-standing structure and does not interfere with the fabric of the 12th century cathedral.
The structure is glazed with tinted glass to reduce solar gain in summer and prevent winter heat loss.
