Conservationist group Save Britain's Heritage has hit out at plans to demolish a listed train shed at London Bridge as 'ignorant' and 'unnecessary'. Railtrack is planning to replace the train shed with a new station by TP Bennett and Wilkinson Eyre Architects which will also feature an office tower and shopping centre. But Save secretary Richard Pollard warned that Railtrack has been seduced by profits from the development and said that its proposal 'demonstrates a profound ignorance of railway architecture'. 'The very stations Railtrack wants to emulate are inspired by the great Victorian roofs Railtrack now wants to demolish, 'he said.
