Sarah Boyack

  • Comment

Scottish minister for the environment Sarah Boyack has opened the Slateford Green Millennium Housing Project in Edinburgh. The 120-flat social housing scheme was designed by Hackland + Dore Architects to be largely car-free. Access is by foot or bike with car access for emergencies and essential visitors only. The design derives from a traditional tenement block with a sheltered courtyard formed by a two- and four-storey perimeter block. The frame of the building is made from timber and flats are arranged around staircase clusters.
