Saggy structure is anchored to safety

  • Comment

When a modern theatre block at Bishop Grosseteste in Lincoln developed a bowing wall and cracks in the masonry, Helifix's Helibeam System provided a quick and cost-effective solution.

Following the installation of Duckbill mechanical ground anchors along the lower sections of the rear and side elevations, to restrain the wall, pairs of stainless steel Helibars were bonded into cut-out mortar beds above and below the anchors, to form lateral masonry beams and stitch the cracks. The installation reinforced the walls, with the loads evenly distributed, to produce a rapid and unobtrusive repair.
