Ryder completes £22 million Carmel College

[FIRST LOOK + PLANS + PROJECT DATA] These are the first images of Ryder Architecture’s recently completed £22 million new build project for Carmel College at St Helens, Merseyside

The three new buildings, totalling 9,000m², will open to college’s 1,500 students in September.

Richard Wise, project director at Ryder, said: ‘The new campus successfully combines the best of the original estate with the new providing a new identity for the college.

‘To achieve the detailed requirements of the brief we invested a significant period of time with staff, students, the senior management team and governors to create the right mixture and arrangement of accommodation.’

The Dalton building features a theatre, a 200 seat auditorium, lecture facilities, performance and rehearsal space, a student services centre and a medical suite.  

The West Park building houses the sciences, humanities, modern languages and ICT classrooms. Art and design is taught in the Notre Dame building.

The scheme included the planting of native trees and shrubs and the construction of two all-weather floodlit sports pitches. The project landed BREEAM rating very good.
