Deputy prime minister John Prescott has launched a blueprint for rural regeneration which includes plans for 3,000 new homes a year in small villages.

This week's Rural White Paper sets out a package of measures aimed at making life better in the countryside and comes in parallel with the Urban White Paper launched earlier this month. Prescott also announced plans to plough £37 million into market towns over the next three years.
