Bovis Lend Lease, in partnership with the AJ, will once again award £10,000 for the best submission to the Architecture Room at the 2010 Royal Academy of Arts (RA) Summer Exhibition.
The theme of this year’s award is ‘raw’. A £10,000 Grand Award is up for grabs, along with £5,000 for the best entry by a first-time exhibitor. The second award has previously been won by architecture students.
This year’s exhibition coordinators are Stephen Chambers and David Chipperfield. The Selection and Hanging Committee includes Michael Hopkins and Norman Foster.
The Summer Exhibition will run between 14 June and 22 August and the AJ will publish winning and commended entries in the summer.
Last year, the Grand Award went to Royal Academician Eric Parry, who exhibited a model of his Stratford City Towers for the London Olympic Village, made from wood off-cuts. The best work by a first-time exhibitor was won by young London-based practice Studio Weave, for a mock-up of its Freya’s Cabin at Kielder Water (AJ 27.10.09) and a model of its Inside-Out House.
Entrants can submit two works at a fee of £25 each. Entry forms can be downloaded from www.royalacademy.org.uk/summer-exhibition and must be returned to the RA by 16 March.
Entrants for the Architecture Room must submit their work to the RA by 6 May. For information, email firstname.lastname@example.org.
