The scheme will deliver the central portion of Rosewarne Village, a new sustainable neighbourhood of 520 units located at the northern edge of the town, on a key regeneration site next to the A30
A resolution to grant detailed planning approval has been secured for this mixed-use neighbourhood including 270 dwellings. The masterplan for Rosewarne Village was adopted by Kerrier District Council in 2006.
Clare San Martin, a partner at John Thompson and Partners said: ‘We are delighted the scheme has been approved and believe it will make a major contribution to the regeneration of Camborne. The new village square with its community building, shops and workshops is designed to serve both new and existing residents and should bring much needed local employment opportunities. It will also deliver 67 new affordable homes.
‘The style of the architecture is based on the Cornish vernacular and uses a palette of materials traditionally used in the towns and villages of West Cornwall including stone, render and slate.’
The South West Design Panel commended the thought and rationale behind the scheme which is based around a series of distinctive spaces including the village square and landscaped play areas. Many of the residential streets are designed as ‘Home Zones’ with pedestrians and cyclists having clear priority over cars.
