Energy is harnessed from the sun and wind by these 'windlights' designed by multidisciplinary architecture firm Robert Webb Associates. Solar panels on the 30 streetlamps for drug firm Pfizer will store energy for lighting around its headquarters building in Sandwich, Kent, at dusk. Eight 10m high wind turbines will top up their energy needs. The lights are due to go up later in the year, said practice director Robert Webb, and will be 'economic, sustainable and elegant'. They are part of a 10-year masterplan to extend the headquarters by US architect CUH2A.
